THE COUNTRY CLUB SPORTS

Built in 1962, the Auckland Park cricket oval is nestled amid the ground's sweeping greenery and large oak trees. Whereas the recently installed new cricket-pitch at Woodmead boasts impressive views over the Club's grounds. 

The cricket season runs from September to early April and offers members a competitive yet informal way of connecting with fellow lovers of the game.

The Club’s two representative teams, the Goblins and the Staggerers, play regular social games throughout the season and annual highlights include national tours and a competitive match against the highly esteemed “Oppenheimer XI”. 

Cricket nets are available at both Auckland Park and Woodmead and are frequently used by the youth of the Club.

Cricket coaching is available at Woodmead. Sessions are on offer every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at the cricket nets and on the oval field.

These sessions are hosted bu Cricket 44 who specialise in coaching the sport. Cricket 44 will offers:

• Group sessions
• 60, 45 & 30 minute private sessions
• 60 and 45 minute semi-private sessions

Several children’s clinics are hosted throughout the cricket season. These clinics include various coaching techniques, outdoor activities and a chance for the kids to have some fun and make some new friends. Consult the monthly newsletter for details.

For corporate events, cricket days are extremely popular and are an excellent activity for company teambuilding. Alternatively, members can arrange their own private cricket match with family and friends which makes for a wonderful and relaxing day out.
